Major Achievements So far

•  Delivery of Primary Health Care in 6 regions of Afghanistan

•  Rehabilitation of 5 clinic buildings in Ghazni province, and staff    house in Laghman province of Afghanistan , and construction of    additional rooms, latrines and digging of wells in IbnSina health    facilities

•  Construction of clinics in Helmand and Laghman province

•  Construction of 105 bathrooms and latrines and digging of 20    wells in Maiwand IDP camp in Kandahar province

•  Delivery of Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) covering
   the entire Helmand, Saripul, Zabul, Paktia provinces of    Afghanistan

•  Water and sanitation project Laghman province

•  Support to Gardiz Provincial Hospital

•  Supplementary Feeding Program

•  Operation of 10 mobile clinics in Afghanistan for IDPs

•  Supported Midwifery Education Project in IHS Mazar and    Community Midwifery Projects in Saripul and Laghman.

•  Refresher training Project for 999 Health Workers in four    provinces (Paktia, Paktika, Kandahar and Khost)

•  Establishment of Afghanistan's first ever Institute of Public    Health and Management Sciences in Kabul and offering Masters    Degree courses in Public health, and other training and academic    courses for health care professionals, initially in collaboration   with other international institutes in India, Holland and Pakistan.

•  Convening of an international public health conference in Kabul ,    in coordination with the Afghan Public Health Institute of MOPH

•  Successful completion of first MPH course with 20 Afghan MD    Students; dissertations to be submitted by December 2007.

•  Establishment of private sector schools in Kabul , Mazar-e-Sharif, and Laghman cities, to provide standard quality modern education in the Afghan context.

•  Sponsoring a six-week training of two Afghan doctors in   Cardiac Health, at the Narayana Hrudayalaya Institute of     Cardiac Sciences in Bangalore

•  Facilitation of successful free operations on two Afghan children    with congenital cardiac disorders, at the Narayana Hrudayalaya     Institute of Cardiac Sciences in Bangalore .

•  Construction of 850 low-cost houses for homeless refugees in     New Shamshatu Camp 2001-2002 .( Pakistan )

•  Distribution of non-food household items assistance (NFI) kits    among 8000 new refugee families (over 40,000 people) in    Pakistan and Afghanistan 2001-2002. .( Pakistan )

•  Rehabilitation, equipping and support of the 100-bed Al-Jehad    Hospital serving a total population of 25,000 including refugees    and local Pakistanis. Provision of 24-hour ambulance services   from New Jalozai transit refugee camp to Al Jihad Hospital for   referral services of emergencies 2001-2002. ( Pakistan )
